How to get paid plumber work in Australia
The world’s most competitive plumber is in Australia, a sign the country is on the cusp of a boom in the industry and a new generation of graduates keen to get their feet wet.
In an industry that is currently dominated by Western-style plumbing and plumbing technology, the International Association of Plumbers and Plumbing Engineers said the average salary of an IAP engineer is now almost $180,000, up from about $180 last year.
The pay rises were driven in part by the arrival of a wave of graduates from China and India to the country.
“It is a good time to be a plumber in Australia and we’re looking forward to working with the new graduates,” IAP president Richard Condon said.
“They are the best of the best in the world, and we want to support them as they transition into the job market.”
We have seen some very successful graduates from other countries.
It’s not just in Australia but we see other parts of the world where there is a big demand for these people.
“The IAP is a trade association for professional plumbers, with an annual membership of more than 500,000 members.
It provides a forum for engineers to network and meet for training, and has a $1 billion budget to help its members make it more competitive.”
Dr Condon is not the only one to suggest a boom is coming to the Australian plumbing industry.”
IAP is in good hands with the Federal Government and the industry.”
Dr Condon is not the only one to suggest a boom is coming to the Australian plumbing industry.
Last year, the IAP and its members were awarded $1.8 million in federal funding to start a national plumber training centre.
“There are a lot of young people looking to go into the industry, and if we can help them we’ll be able to support the next generation of plumbers,” Mr Janssen said.
Mr Jansson said the plumbers who were on the list were being encouraged to apply.
“If they apply to go in, we’ll get them into a training program and they can start training here in Australia within a few years,” he said.
The IAPS has also been encouraging companies to recruit and train young graduates.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics says more than 90 per cent of all workers in Australia were under 25 when they entered the workforce in 2016.
In 2017, the industry grew by 3 per cent, and the number of people aged over 55 entering the workforce grew by 14 per cent.
