Man arrested after stealing 2.5-ton truck from US city’s sewage treatment plant

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

(AP) A 22-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly stole two 2.65-ton trucks from the city’s wastewater treatment plant, police said.

It’s the latest in a string of thefts from the facility that dates back to 2011.

A woman who lives across the street from the plant said she was shocked to hear the news about the arrest.

She said the truck was taken from her home on May 15.

Police have not released the names of the suspects or provided a description of the vehicles.

The two trucks were stolen at the wastewater plant on May 17.

They were found about two weeks later.

Police have not said if anyone was hurt.

A spokesperson for the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality said in a statement that “we are taking all necessary actions to determine the source of the trucks that were taken.”

The facility was closed in 2011 after a fire destroyed an underground storage tank, which is connected to a treatment plant.
